I will be visiting the United States soon. Help!!!? |
What state is Washington D.C. in? There is Washington State in North West USA, so are there 2 Washington States? Washington DC is not a state, it is a district, hence the name (DC means District of Columbia). The founding fathers were wary of giving any one state too much power, and so Maryland and Virginia, which were in the middle of the country at the time, each gave up some land that became this district, our nations capital. Thats a state Maryland but it is self governing really. The beauty of the District of Columbia is that its denizens have no representation!!! Washington D.C. is it own State. All by it self. Washington DC is a District not a state. |
