I will be visiting the United States soon. Help!!!?

What state is Washington D.C. in?

There is Washington State in North West USA, so are there 2 Washington States?

Washington DC is not a state, it is a district, hence the name (DC means District of Columbia). The founding fathers were wary of giving any one state too much power, and so Maryland and Virginia, which were in the middle of the country at the time, each gave up some land that became this district, our nations capital.

Washington State is completely different, on the opposite coast actually. DC is on the East Coast, whereas Washington is in the very Northwest.

Hope that helped, and I hope you enjoy your visit to our beautiful country. If you have any further questions, feel free to contact me at guagna13@yahoo.com!!

Thats a state

Maryland but it is self governing really. The beauty of the District of Columbia is that its denizens have no representation!!!

Washington D.C. is it own State. All by it self.

Washington DC is a District not a state.
It is between Virginia and Maryland. The property at one
time came from and was donated by Maryland for a Federal property to house the government at.

The piece that is shown on old maps of the diamond, that was in Virginia was return to the State of Virginia in the early 1900 as it was not manageable by the District, being over the Potomac river and hard to get to at the time, with only 2 bridges over the river.
