America was liberated by George Washington and the memorial is still the tallest building in DC,what say you?

yea id still say its the tallest

I say it is (at 555 feet), although there is a regulation that no building can be taller than the the tip of the statue on top of the US Capitol Building.

Not sure how it got passed the regulation.

I would say America was not liberated bt George Washington. Check your facts.

America was not liberated by George Washington because America didnt exist then and was never under occupation. The Brits didnt invade America they colonised it and the war of independence was in fact a British civil war in the colonies which Parliament lost and the USA was born.
The Brits were bankrupt from a war with the French and wanted the American people to raise their own army for their own defence or pay to be defended by the national army, both were refused and a tax was imposed. As there was no representation in Great Britains government for the American colonies the only outcome could be war.
Had George Washington's army lost he would have been hung as a traitor. The same would happen in the USA today if Hawaii fought for independence and lost, the leaders would be seen as traitors. Yet if they won they would be seen ( by Hawaiians) as the founders of their nation and have monuments erected for them.
I think the Washington memorial is a fitting memorial to a great leader of his people. It should always remain as the tallest building in your nations capital. It was designed that way and should remain so. Save the skyscrapers for New York.

I'd also say GW didn't "liberate" America, and that the regulation on the heights of buildings is in actuallity based on the width of the streets and not (as frequently said) related to the Monument
