We may be relocating to Bethesda , Maryland for a job, does anyone know if this is a good place for families?

Are the crime statistics low, are there good schools there? Whats the area like in general? I'm a from Fla originally and my husband is from Mass. Is it cold often, warm at times? What are some good areas to live in. Basically in general is this an ok place to live.

I lived in Maryland/DC area for 50 + years and Bethesda is a great location. Its in Montgomery County just over the DC/Maryland boundary line and is one of the richer counties in Maryland. Bethesda is upscale with great schools, shopping and it is right on the subway system for getting around and into DC.

The DC/Maryland area gets a moderate amount of rain and snow but a big snow storm, like a blizzard with 10 to 12 inches or more, is rare, like maybe every 5 or 6 years or so. Most of the time the weather that comes across the country goes north over Pennsylvania and it dissipates as it crosses the mountains. The snow storm to watch for that area are those that come up the East coast.

There has been a lot of construction and changes over the years so I cannot give you a specific on where to live. But the Bethesda area is great and there are plenty of good places in Montgomery County and its close environs.

I moved to SIlver Spring, MD from Penn in 2005. Bethesda is very good for families. It's one of the "better" suburbs of DC. Winters are mild- this year it's snowed maybe 2 days. There's always lots to do since you are close to both DC & Baltimore- museums, baltimore aquarium, movies, theater, etc. They even have their own magazine called Bethesda (You should check it out online). The schools are also very good.. some of the best in the nation

Bethesda is a very nice place. There is some nice residential as well as commercial areas. I worked there for 2 years. You will get a nice range of weather and temps. There are lots of nice shops, and you don't hear about too much crime that way. Great D.C. suburb. Good luck if you move!

Bethesda is an outstanding area.聽 If you can afford to live there, you should be very, very happy.聽 The local county services are great, the schools are superb, excellent shopping, and some of the best restaurants anywhere.聽 Very low crime.
