Where can I live in Abu Dhabi?

Hi to all in Abu Dhabi.
I'm a single male and moving there soon and my office is near Al Rowdah area. I'm looking for a semi furnished one-bedroom apt. around Dh50000-Dh60000/year.
1. Which residential areas in the island can I live in with that amount?
2. Can I get a semi furnished or fully furnished apt with that amount? Any other suggestions?
3. I have a travel allowance of Dh1000/month. What economy car can I rent with that amount? What other economical and convenient way to travel back and forth to work?

Hello :o)

I just moved to Abu Dhabi afew months ago. And I have to say that its very hard to find accomodation here! The island is very small (4miles x 5 miles!!!), and there are too many people working and living here, so its hard to find somewhere to live! Because theres a shortage of accomodation, the price for living here has become expensive! For a one bedroom u will probably pay at least 80,000dh/year or more! If u want to pay less then u can try looking outside of Abu Dhabi...I know someone who lives in a big 2 bedroom villa for only about 30,000dh/year!!! BUT, the area he lives is about 50km from Abu Dhabi! If u dont mind travelling every morning to work then thats a good option, otherwise u will have to pay more rent!

You can find furnished or semi-furnished apartments, but they will obviously be more expensive!

Also, every year ur rent will be increased by 5%...this is the law! So if u rent a place for 100,000dh, then the following year u will have to pay 105,000dh! And u will also have to pay 5,000dh commission to the agency that finds u the apartment! You can find apartments through agencies, newspapers, or word-of-mouth.

Ok, the only way to travel to work will be either to rent a car (not sure how much though!) or to take a taxi. Taxi's are quite cheap here...u will pay 3 dh to start with, and then 0.50dh for every km u travel...abu dhabi is small so u wont end up paying too much anyway! If u find an apartment near to your workplace then obviously u can just walk :o)

Hope that was helpful.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

Abu Dhabi the island itself isn't really big, other areas made Abu Dhabi the biggest emirate (state) in the UAE ..

so if you find an accommodation anywhere within the island its fine ..

and i think there's no way you'll find an apartment with such small amount !! very hard !! and might even be outside Abu Dhabi ..

good luck anyways ..
