Has anyone here (particularly Asian Ph) travelled to Qatar?

from Dubai? How did you acquire your visit visa? In the event that I resign from my work here and request for res.visa cancellation and hop on Qatar on a visit visa, do i have to go back to my country of origin or i can fly straight from Dubai to Qatar with ease? Thank you all.

Note: I can verify these questions to travel agency but i also want to hear from actual peoples experience.

MURFEUS: I prodded him to give more info thru email and even with his 1st answer alone-it deserves 10 points already.

I guess prolonging this question gave u a chance to answer he he he Thank u too & Battgirl!

All the BEST!

You can fly directly to Qatar from Dubai using a visit visa issued by a local Qatari company or by a bonafide individual once you have cancelled your UAE visa (you are still allowed to stay in the UAE 30 days after cancellation date - for your info.). Please insure that the original visit visa should be with you prior to booking a ticket to Qatar onwards your final destination as this will be asked by the travel agency. Have the original visit visa as well ready with you if you are going to check in.

On your arrival to Doha International Airport, you might be asked by the Qatari Immigration Officer for your onward ticket to your final destination prior to stamping of your visit visa once they have seen your cancelled UAE Visa.

Good luck !

EDIT No. 1

What I'm going to recommend is conditional but this the best way you can plan.

If you are still having a valid residence visa in Dubai and that (conditional) you belong to the professional categories (i.e. engineer, accountant, nurse, doctor, teacher, managers, executives, etc) rather than service or skilled (technicians, service crew, salesman. etc). you can have a visa on arrival in Qatar for a cost of QR 55 in you are going to use Qatar Airlines or QR 110 if other airlines.

The Visa on Arrival will be issued by the Qatari Immigration Officer and they accept only Visa or Master or American or Diners Cards. Cash is not acceptable.

They are going to ask you as a formality, what is your purpose in visiting Qatar (business is the best answer) and your place of stay (mention a hotel and insure you know the address). I wont suggest that you mention your friend's house.

They are going to ask you as well the duration you will need and you can say either 7 or 14 or under those numbers.

Please note that the housing rent in Doha is 5 to 10% more expensive than Dubai and that the inflation is almost 1.5 times higher.

Lets' say the demand is more than the supply.

Addition.... be careful in checking in using from the Dubai international airport. If you will find Phillipina counter - hit it as sometimes those other counter crews (specially Indians) they are very strict on visa on arrival for asians for Qatar and they tend to seek advice and double check with their svisors prior to issuing the boarding pass.

Smile immediately !!!!

EDIT No. 2

I would suggest that you see for yourself first Qatar and weigh all the options you've got and decide. Please bear in mind that Qatar would be a very expensive place in the next 2 to 3 years as the inflation will soar even higher. We are studying the market and just sitting how the Qatar Gov. will initiate the reported plan of 400% increase in salary in the government sector.

You can have your visa cancelled in the Dubai later on and go straight to Qatar without any problem. It's just like a Kish Island Visa change without return.

Good luck !

Hi Yaken my friends has transferred from Dubai to Qatar with no problem. They were issued a working visa hence they travel direct DXB-DOH after cancellation of their Dubai visa. Another one had a visit visa and they just provided him a dummy forward ticket to Manila for Qatar immigration purpose.

Thumbs up willie v

Very impormative indeed. A friend of mine is also doing the same thing like what the poster is probably going to do:

go to qatar.... have a job interview.... get the job offer..... back in Dubai ... then give a 30 days notice and resign !!!

Your info is a big help.

Hey mate listen, you've got my vote if the asker will not choose your reply as the best answer !!!

Cheers!
