Teaching contracts in Dubai?

I'm a single Australian woman currently teaching in the UK. I want to teach in Dubai for a few years. I like the sound of the lifestyle there, but am not sure what a good salary package would be. It does not seem to pay as well as the UK but I don't know how that compares with the cost of living in the UAE.

Can anyone adivse me on what I should be expecting as a single, female teacher?

ok, maybe this breaches copyright, but here's the info from a book I purchased from http://www.teachinternational.com called "Country Quick Facts" and its a guide to the english teaching job market around the world...

UAE

It also offers a less restrictive lifestyle than some other countries in the Gulf.

on a personal note, I looked into teaching there after getting my TEFL certificate (plus my 3 yr BSc), but found that it seemed to be a minimum requirement to have an education degree - bachelors at a MINIMUM but more often a post-grad degree as well. Also it is often required to have minimum 3 years experience, plus teaching business English experience is highly regarded.

My brother lives there currently, and is loving it. He's been there for 15mths, as a consultant. From what he says, his female colleagues don't seem to have many troubles, Dubai is about 75% ex-pats and is very different to many of their neighbours in terms of their view towards women.

Rent is expensive and you normally need to pay 12 months in advance, but many companies and banks provide residential loans, so they pay your 12 months and then you repay your loan each month.

Good luck!

hey. i know baout money in arab and asian countries. trust me theres no point in working there atall. the money you recive from there salary is rougly half you would recive in enlish and ozzy money.so wots the point? plus your going to be treated and paid like a normal teacher no special rewards. the lifestyle is great but you can visit for holidays but dont take up a job there. whats wrong with austrailia i loveee it there!
