Duty free money?

Stupid question but ive never been through a duty free so i have no idea what th procedures are.
When i stop off in Dubai and i go through the duty free, if i see a ring i like and want to buy it.

What currency will they need as payment?
will they only accept there own nations money or what? other wise im gonna have to take UAE crrency some of my english money aswell as SA money im gonna be like a walking money exchange lol

Youcan pay in all kind of currencies, bad the exchange rate will be bad. Best thing to do is paying with a credit card which is very comon here.

In case you want to change money into AED, do it over here. The rate will be much better. Exchange places you'll find here all over.

Take care.

As what H has said, you can pay it with any other MAJOR Currency. The problem is - the exchange rate is not that good. Normally it's around 4% cheaper compared to the normal exhange rate.

You can pay using your credit card or have it this way :

All prices of items inside the Dubai Duty Free is marked in local currency (which is Dhs) and US$.

You can check which ring or jewelly you would like to have and have it priced in local currency which is Dhs. Once you determined, then asked the sales person to have placed in a box or pouch while you are going to change to local currency. The jewellery location is just 15 meters away from the money exchange counter inside the Duty Free Shop. They are somewhat within the normal rate.

Have whatever currency you have changed into the local currency according to the price and there you have it. You ahve the local currency - at the normal rate- with no excess change !

How about that?
