I guess you do not have a H1 visa anymore since you left the US. But yes, Dubai is a great place to work & live. It is a good idea.

helo my dear

dubai is good place to work but the dhiram is droping heavely. u know that at taj people r stopped accepting dollars.so why r u going behind dhirams.

the best option is india.

A network engineer with CCNP or CCNA+MCSE got a lot of vacancies here in Dubai. Try Emitac or Hp. I head they r looking for n/w engineers with the mentioned qualifications. Approximate salary could be Dh 8,000 to Dh 12,000 pm.

Oh boy, it鈥檚 a big mistake if you will select the U.A.E. over U.S.! To tell you the truth America is 100 plus years ahead compared to U.A.E. when it comes to the welfare of the people particularly the rights of the workers. U.A.E. is a newly formed country and although it makes headlines these recent years because of its spectacular developments; U.S. is far more-better country than the U.A.E. Workers' Rights are a very big issue in the U.A.E. because 85% of population are expatriates. Here are some comparisons:

U.S. (Advantages)
1. Democratic (Freedom)
2. You can be a Citizen
3. Free to Exercise any Religion
4. Labor Laws are conformed to International Labor Organization (ILO) requirements
5. Workers are well protected by law you are allowed to have Collective Bargaining Agreement or join / form Labor Unions. Strike is also permitted.
6. Discrimination in the workplace is not tolerated
7. Minimum wage is already imposed
8. Overtime works are paid
9. Freedom of Expression
10. Laws are based on democratic principles
11. Public Mass Transportations are adequate

U.A.E.
1. Federal Muslim Government (Strict)
2. No-citizenship for expatriates
3. Only Islam is permitted to exercise all the rights (other Religions are regulated)
4. ILO signatory but defies other rules that ILO is set like setting minimum wage.
5. Labor law is new and many flaws, impact the Ministry of Labor (government) itself will ban you for 6 months if you didn鈥檛 finish your signed contract!
6. No CBA, Union is illegal, strike is illegal too and risk of deportation if you are caught.
7. Discrimination is a big issue, impact when you try job-searching on the classified ads, you will see the age, gender and nationalities are compulsory requirements.
8. No minimum wage
9. Overtime is mostly free (because most companies don鈥檛 have daily time record or if they have no Bundy clock).
10. Media are regulated
11. Laws are based on Islam and very strict
12. Poor Public Mass Transport
13. Crimes are most often not reported because of media regulation impact you cannot name a suspect even if it is convicted.
14. TAX-FREE salary the only advantage that the U.A.E. has, compared to U.S. when it comes to work-related differences. BRAVOOO!

If you already accumulated 5-7 figures of Yankee dollars then why not be an employer instead of being an employee. Because if you were raised, educated and already employed in the U.S. I bet, you will have a hard time adapting the working environment here especially if your superiors are not western educated like you! It鈥檚 so easy to set-up business here in Dubai, as low as 6,000 USD you can be called businessman here. Yes, for only 6,000 USD you can be a freelance businessman in Dubai Media City. DMC is a free zone that is situated in Dubai that offers a no-tax incentive opportunity for foreign investors, visit http://www.dubaimediacity.com/ for more information. There are lots of free zone investment opportunities here in Dubai the other one is http://www.dubaiinternetcity.com/.

If just in case you still want to work here despite of my well researched suggestions, try to get a newly created Mission Visa. It is a newly formed type of Visa that allows job seekers to first try the company for 3 months and can be renewed up to 6 months. After the 6 months of being probationary both the employer and the employee can assess each other, if the employee or the employer still want to continue each others services. You cannot be banned and you don鈥檛 have obligations to the company just in case you want to jump to a new employer, unlike when you come here with visit visa and found work, you are force to sign a 3-year contract and with that is an automatic ban just in case you jump to other employer. Visit this http://archive.gulfnews.com/indepth/labo... where to get this, ask your labor department.

One more thing, just be sure that the company that you are working here are MNC鈥檚 or listed on top 50 best companies in the U.A.E. or if you don鈥檛 want not to go wrong just make sure to select western based companies such as HP, IBM etc. because these are equal opportunities providers. And please do not select Sindhi company ha (just joking, ask those who worked in that company and they will tell you why).

If you want to know more about Dubai, just email me and I will try to explain to you some more details that you should know from A-Z! (LOL) 飦? For further information about working in DUBAI go to this website: http://archive.gulfnews.com/indepth/labo...

How I wish I am in your shoes, o.k. here's the deal give me your H1-Visa and I will give you my U.A.E. Visa! Deal or No-Deal? hehehe

Mike-the ComputerMan (hope to see you when you are here!)
