Had a bad experience on Grand Turk: unfriendly people,asked to leave a bar for being white with black friends?

Is mine a common problem?

I was neither drunk nor disorderly. I also wasn't a local.

It's completely unheard of. In fact, I'm surprised that other people in the bar didn't make a fuss about it. I wonder who it was who asked you to leave? As a matter of fact, most people working behind bars are not Turks Islanders but foreigners and that is the kind of behaviour which would lead to people having their work permits revoked.

Yeah... so... in case you didn't know it... you don't HAVE any CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS in a FOREIGN COUNTRY... they can toss you out of a bar for being in there with black people if they WANT to... and you don't HAVE any RIGHTS because you are not in AMERIKA.

really???? That is very rare.... I've never heard of anyone having problems or getting heckled in the TCIs...

I would like to hope that one experience wouldn't taint you for life on the Turks and Caicos Islands. As with anywhere you'll find some jerks on every island.

Don't be afraid to air your grievance to the editor(s) of the daily newspapers on the island territory. Basically saying the same thing, how the experience made you feel, what transpired, how did you feel that it was racist in intent, how you hoped the bar-keep would have handled it differently etc.....

That small editorial could bring about major changes or scrutiny by the public on the same said establishment to shape up or ship out.

You must have been miss behaving or very loud and unruly to get kick out of a bar in Grand Turks. I have seen mixed ethnic groups together in public places like a restaurant and bar and they were treated just fine.

You question was "is this a common problem?" It's very unusual unless you provoked the bartender/owner. It makes no sense. The people (belongers) of Turks and Caicos are very friendly people. I suspect something else your not telling us happened.)
