How did Turks and caicos get their name?? |
how did turks and caicos get theyr name?? The name Turks is derived after the indigenous Turk's Head "fez" cactus, pictured to the right, and the name Caicos is a Lucayan term "caya hico," meaning string of islands. i believe because of their native cacti which have a red top/flower on top, which reminded them of a turk...or something like that....google Turks & caicos and you can read all about it....
