Do Turks and Caicos get along? |
Please Give serious answers. This is for a project. Yes, but certainly not as great as Trinidad & Tobago get along. Or for that matter, St. Vincent & the Grenadines. Yes, they get along considering Caicos is the larger of the two. 96% land area and population appox 26,584. Turks has only 5,753 population. They are a British territory. yes they do Of course they do. They constitute one country and there is frequent travel between the islands. Each area returns its MLA (Member of the Legislative Assembly), who represents the interests of his or her own costituency. Geographically things are a little difficult, with the seat of government being in Grand Turk, along with the main governement offices, while a majority of the population of the islands has gravitated to Providenciales, which is the main hub of activity. Attempts to transfer the seat of government to Providenciales have been resisted, as this would mean that one island dominated the scene while the others would be impoverished. There is a great feeling of loyalty among the people for their own home island, whether it be a Turks island or a Caicos island and people who have "emigrated" to Providenciales or Grand Turk will often travel back to their home base. Grand Turk has won a place on the tourist map as the port of call of cruise ships, but at the same time South Caicos is building a major airport and a causeway is being constructed between North Caicos and Middle Caicos, which, it is hoped, will help the economy of both islands. One does not hear of any rivalry between islands as such and yes, the islands get along well together. The Carifta Games are taking place in Providenciales starting this weekend and that is when the unity of the islands will really be demonstrated as they shout with one voice for their athletes! well Turks are Turks and caikos are boats ..it was the reason Colombo started looking west to go to India.. yeah. I hear their the best of friends!!!!!! |
