Have you been to the Turks & Caicos islands and how did you like it?

We're looking for a nice vacation place in the Caribean. We've been to Aruba and loved it. But we would like to visit somewhere new.

I definitely agree with the previous post. The geography of the Turks and Caicos is somewhat similar to what you will have seen in Aruba, and you really might enjoy the variety a lusher island would offer.

I would second Grenada as a destination, and add Tobago, which is just gorgeous.

The upside to the Turks&Caicos is that it is SO easy to get to from the East Coast. We enjoyed our stay there quite a bit, though it was not one of our favorite islands. We did eat inexplicably well- the restaurant scene is thriving on Provo! Also if SCUBA or snorkeling are musts for you, Turks & Caicos would be a great destination- but then, so would the BVIs, and Tobago.

Have fun!

ETA: there are quite a few resorts on Provo, certainly not just Beaches. We stayed at The Sands, on Grace Bay. It was a very nice condo/resort, great pool, nice restaurant, a number of amenities. We managed to have a great time without ever watching television, though we certainly did eat quite a bit!

my family and i went to provo in turks in caicos and stayed at a very nice place. it was actually beautiful. it wasn't developed very well. there werent very many shops on it and the whole island i believe was around 20 miles long. i enjoyed st. john, usvi alot more. :) Report It

http://www.royalwestindies.com... that is where we stayed. beautiful and romantic and there were many weddings going on. not much to do except lay around which i guess is the point. :) Report It

The Turks & Caicos islands (while not technically part of the Caribbean) are awesome. However, because you've been to Aruba and you state that you'd like to try someplace "new", I would look into a different destination. Aruba, being one of the "ABC islands" (Bonaire, Curacao) is very dry and flat. The Turks and Caicos are very similar. I would personally suggest Barbados, Grenada, Jamaica, or the U.S. or British Virgin Islands. Any of these islands will give you an equally enjoyable vacation that will provide you with a little change in scenery and diversity.

It was ok. I visited Providenciales and there was only one major hotel;beaches if you didn't visit there you basically ate and watched tv. Not to be negative.
