Is arabic dying in tunisia?

Will it eventually be replaced by french?

I live in Tunisia and Arabic is very much alive and well there. It is the first language spoken there, and the first taught to kids. French is their second language, just like Spanish is the second language in America. That doesn't mean that pretty soon all Americans are going to be speaking Spanish instead of English, and it certainly doesn't mean that all Tunisians are going to be speaking French. Most countries have a prodominent second language, but it's just that- a second language.

People tend to adopt whatever language seems more viable for meeting their needs. If French is more practical for their economic activity, people will speak it more. On the other hand, if Arabic-speaking nations one day offer more value in speaking that language (as they did in the 1300's), I'm sure the trend will turn back. Right now, sadly, the Arabic language doesn't offer much benefit internationally, as most Arabic-speaking nations have become very 'inward-looking'. Perhaps the Tunisians are looking outward.

I hope you're not french cause those Tunisians give the french too much credit, it's like they're happy that the french took over their country for so many years and they are just like many europeans very pretentious and arrogant. Well I lived there for 4 months with my boyfriend who was tunisian at the time and they all spoke arabic with each other, but they would also incorporate alot of french, which made it easy for me to say "adeeni example" and they would understand.
