Whats tunisia like? im due to go there on holiday?

Depends on where you are going....Hammamet, Sousse, and Port el Kantoui are quite toruisty places (Hammement in particular), and you do have to be careful on the market stalls....especially if they hear an english accent but you'll find you may go into stores where the prices are fixed and you can't haggle.

Women do need to be quite careful at night time but in the day is fine....if you just walk away or ignore any hassle then they generally get the point! I'd recommend that women go out in twos just to feel a bit more secure but the men generally don't mean any harm....just a bit over freindly sometimes and it's not as sleazy as people make out!

in terms of food there is pretty much everything...you can try traditional tunisian food or there are plenty of places that sell english type food.

The beaches are lovely, and there's generally plenty of opportunities for watersports wherever you go. Or on the otherhand there's plenty of opportunties to relax in the quieter resorts but there truly is somehting for everyone!

Just be careful if you are going in August beginning of September as it gets really really hot!

Enjoy our trip, I'm sure you'll love it!

it's like Morocco, Algeria and Libya.. :)

its really nice

be prepared to get ripped off in the local markets
you have not experienced a true market untill you have been to tunisia
remember whatever price you think something might be worth its not you need to half the price then half it again then again and again coss these people will rob you blind if you let them
women should not walk around alone especially if youre showing some flesh this is not a joke there are real dangers here
apart from that its a fantstic place and the everyday locals that you will meet are of the friendliest you could ever come into contact with it really was a fantastic experience when i went to tunisia (hammamet)
hope you have a wonderful time

Hi,
I am Tunisian myself, but I lived most of my life in the US.
Tunisia can be realy safe, it also can be very dangerous.
You have to know where you are going before knowing which is which.
If you are going to a coastal town summer vacation type, it should be safe, Tunisa loves its tourist and you will be well treated.
As for scammers, con artists etc..
Those people exist all over the world
This is what I think, if you are not convinced to buy something, do not buy it especially from a stand or a market, check the super market if they have the same thing.
Also try to carefully make some freinds, they will be happy to show you around.
Good Luck
