How to stay busy in sousse by myself?

hey, i am in sousse tunisia. i am staying with my in laws outside sousse really. very bord. after cleaning:cooking:kids i want to know what i can do in sousse by myself if i take a taxi( my arabic is very bad and i would have six month old with me, if not my other two toddlers)

thank you to all who answer. is there any libraries in sousse with english books?

I don't know of any libraries in Sousse that carry English books, but sometimes if you are lucky some of the bookstores in downtown Sousse and kiosks in the bus and train stations will carry them. The only problem is that they are usually older books, not the current ones.

As for things to do, there are lots! You can always go to the marina, Port El Kantaoui. In that area there is a golf course, an amusement park (Hannibal Park) that your child(ren) would love, shops, cafes, and a little botanic park (Oasis Parc Botanique) at the entrance that is nice for a little stroll.

You can also walk the major shopping centers (Tej Marhaba and Slim Center). They are not far from each other and in the vacinity is plenty of restaurants, cafes, shopping (of course), and a nice atmosphere.

You can always go down to the beach and go swimming. I personally love the beach at Chott Meriam. It is a small suburb on the outskirts of Sousse and has a gorgeous beach! Not many tourists know of it, so it is mainly locals there. Here is pictures I took from there last summer http://www.flickr.com/photos/jamie_hasse...

You can go to Aqua Palace. It's the new water park in Sousse. I haven't been yet, but plan on going when I arrive back home. I have a friend who lives in Ireland and just got back from a vacation in Sousse (her daughter's boyfriend is Tunisian). Her family went there and she said it was great and that they had a blast and really enjoyed themselves.

Treat yourself to ice cream! There is a great Italian ice cream shop called Casa Del Gelato that is in the center of Sousse. You can buy ice cream cones, ice cream in a cup, or if you really want a treat, sit outside and you will be given a menu where you can choose from different types of specials. If you choose from the menu, the ice creams are big, but oh so delicious!

Near Casa Del Gelato is a bowling Alley. I believe it's called Cosmic bowling. I've only been a few times, but I enjoyed myself the times we've gone.

Go to the Corniche. You can take a nice stroll, sit and look out at the Sea, or you can even choose to take a carriage ride. There are some nice little cafes that sell really good lemonade there (called citron).

If you are interested in history and exploring, go take a look at the Great Mosque, the Catacombs, the Mosaic Museum, The Traditional Tunisian House, the Ribat, or just walk the medina.

Try your hand at bargaining by going to the Souks. You can find a whole treasure trove of different things. You can perfect your bargaining skills, and if you get good, you can buy things at next to nothing!

If you don't mind a drive, go to Friguia Safari Park. It is on the very north western edge of Sousse (away from the main city) and has African wildlife and other endangered species.

Between Sousse and Hammam Sousse is Hergla Karting Park. There is a small "zoo" (not a lot of animals, but kids seem to enjoy it), different amusement rides, and one really cool thrill ride that you have to definately be bold to do! And living up to it's name, there are of course go karts there.

I hope that this gave you some ideas to do that will be fun not only for you, but for your children as well. If I can be of any more help or assistance, please feel free to contact me.
