Swansea is close to the Gower coast, easily one of the most stunning areas of natural beauty in the UK. Very good nightlife in the city centre (I'd call more of a town than a city). Great cycle tracks if your into that, leisure centre has a fab swimming pool. If you are a student it was recently voted a top place study with reference to fun, cheap beer and generally a good place to be. Nice place.

Swansea.. oh dear

Don't listen to that lot- Swansea is fine. Good shopping- nice market and theatre etc. Easy driving distance to beautiful coastline. Hope you'll be happy there.

Its fine if your ambitions are very limited.

Swansea's a really nice city. The centre isn't all that great (it was bombed during world war 2), but it has a nice feel to it and it's right on the coast. Mumbles is lovely and the beaches in the Gower (to the west) are amazing. I live in Cardiff, but I love visiting Swansea.
