Why do Cardiff and Swansea fans have such bitter rivalry?

All the local derby's in England seem to be like a boy scouts outing in comparison to the absolute hatred that exists between many of their fans.

Only Southampton v Portsmouth registers anywhere near it's intensity in my experience.

Is this something to do with Dock towns being rough, or do Welsh people generally just like a good ruck?

It's only the minority of Cardiff and Swansea fans that are bitter to each other. The grown up, more mature fans want to see both sides doing well, because it's good for Welsh football in general, if they are.

Uve obviously never been to a Tyne Wear derby then or a Sheff Wed Sheff Utd derby. Im a Sunderland fan, and the rivalry between us and the mags (FTM) is vicious!
Cardiff supporters are evil b@st@ards tho i'll give u that, only away game ive been to where i was genuinely scared for my life!!!
