European Union, Member Countries?

Do you think, the European Union Countries,
one day in the future, will adopt English as
the official language?

Almost certainly not, no. It is very explicitly stated (and frequently repeated) that one of the cornerstones of the EU is precisely the diversity of cultures and languages that comes from it being a union of different nations.

Having said that, I would not be surprised if, in the future, the EU will separate the languages into primary and secondary ones -- with the ones spoken in multiple countries (e.g. English, French, and German) being the languages of everyday EU government business, and translations to other, smaller languages done only as necessary.

I hope not. Europe is the union of independent countries that speak different languages. They all have their own governments, the European Parliament makes the guide lines for all the countries and is in the countries interest to fallow those guide lines to make a strong economy. Most countries in Europe are old and have their heritage, their costumes like Portugal, no country would accept that.

No why should they do so?

No. Why should them do that? Diversity is a very good thing!

I hope not
