Disney College Program?

Just wanted to hear from anyone who has actually DONE the Disney College Program... about how much money did you come out with once the summer was over? I hear you aren't able to save much. Also, would you recommend it? Especially to a HUGE Disney fan?
One last thing... can you do it for just a summer?

I did the College Program in 1998 (I can't believe that was 10 years ago!!) and I loved it.

I was a lifeguard at the Polynesian Resort and had the best summer of my life. You aren't going to make much money, and forget saving any of it. After you pay for your lodging (at Vista Way, a pretty nice and secure apartment complex) your food, entertainment, and other expenses, you shouldn't go expecting to make money.

Do it for the experience and for the fun. I can tell you that I still use the values and work ethic that they taught me every day of my life. It was a once in a lifetime experience and I would recommend it for anyone to do....particularly a HUGE Disney fan such as yourself.

I am not sure about the timeframe for applying. If I recall, I interviewed in February or March for the summer session. And, yes, you are only there for either one semester or the summer only. Average stay of about 3 months.

I can't answer your questions directly, but I know a lot of people who are currently in the College Program, who have done the College Program and who are applying for the College Program post in the College Board section of the DIS boards. You would find all of your answers very easily there.

I did it in 2000. Didn't save ANY money. And I was homesick :( Plus, I have no desire to go to Disney World again. I loved it before. Don't get me wrong, I don't despise the place or anything. It just isn't magical anymore.. I realize that they are just a business like any other.. they use the college students for slaves!
