What can I do for fun in Duesseldorf?

I'm a 21 year old female and will be spending time with friends in the city.

Well, the old town centre (Altstadt) is known as the longest bar in the world because it is full of bars and pubs. It is a great place to hang and have a nice meal and a drink. There is K枚nigsallee is very nice, very expensive shops, it is a great place for window shopping. There are many great places to just go for a walk, I like the walk along the Rhine River. The city is just full of museums and you should be able find some for most tastes. If you want to do something a little different, the House of Japanese Culture is very interesting. There is a nice Japanese garden and tea house.

The tourist board site is pretty good so I would suggest you look there as well. http://www.duesseldorf-tourismus.de/defa...

eat Lederhosen and wear some german salami.

Duesseldorf has a fond place in my heart because it was my first stopping-off place in Germany when I arrived there as an exchange student more than four decades ago. It is also a fashion center for Germany. You might be able to go to some fashion shows. There are a number of theaters (I am speaking of plays) there as in most sizable German cities. If you and your friends speak German, that would be a great diversion.

How about taking some day trips down the Rhine? There are many castles along the Rhine and some of the tourist boats make stops at them.

You should also make time to visit Schloss Benrath, a palace which is now a museum. I would recommend this for when the weather is especially beautiful as you will enjoy walks in the gardens too. Here is the English website for the city. Be sure to check out their current mayor!!!
