Info on California?

Looking for any info you have or experience you have had living in california. Particularly the Burbank/Hollywood Area. I do have some questions:

1. Is it a good place for kids to grow up?

2. Is the train/subway (whatever you call it there) safe?

3. How far is Lancaster to Hollywood?

Also how far is Maui?

California, where I have lived some 38 years now, is WONDERFUL!!! I live in Pasadena, near both Burbank and Hollywood.

Burbank: It's a good place for kids if you work hard to give them a good environment. Like any city, there are bad influences to be found, too, so you must be watchful. Hollywood, not so good, as the schools are LAUSD and more difficult, crowded. If you live in the City of LA, consider private schools if you can.

The train in Burbank is Metrolink (commuter train) or Amtrak. In Hollywood there is the local subway, called Metro. It's safe, but like in any city, one must be prudent.

From Lancaster (which they strangely pronounce Lan'-cas'-ter here, and not Lanc'-ster, as you might expect), it's a long hard commute by car of 66 miles, with just one real road, which I would not wish on a dog!

San Diego is another 110 or 120 miles away, and on a Friday afternoon, this can be a three-hour commute!

Oh my, did I answer your q yesterday? I still recommend Burbank, Glendale, or Pasadena... the Santa Clarita Valley or farther just being too darned far away!

1. Yes. Burbank is good. Hollywood is over the hill, in Los Angeles. It's not so good. Burbank is its own city, and has a lot of the studios located there. Toluca Lake is a small enclave just south of Burbank which is REALLY nice.

2. Yes, the train and subway are safe.

3. Lancaster to Hollywood is 65 miles. The traffic is pretty bad, and will probably take 1.5 - 2 hours each way, if you are commuting.

San Diego is about 125 miles.

Burbank is safer than Hollywood. (Hollywood is ghetto) unless your on the westside.

The subway is safe.

Lancaster is about an hour in 15 away.

San Diego is about 2 hours.

You can always search for it.That's what the internet is for isn't it?!http://google.com
