Could someone recommend things for a tourist to do in kansas city?

i will be there for about 1.5 months in june/july. i'm from australia and i'd love to know things that you think are great. parks, places to eat, attractions...anything like that!

See the Country Club Plaza and the Nelson Art Gallery. Eat some barbeque. Go to the top of the World War I memorial.
Visit the Truman Library out in Liberty (just east of KC). Drink some beer in Old Westport.

The Farm & Art Market is a good place to visit in the summer. Right next to the market is the Steamship Arabia museum. It is very good. If you like theme parks, then you could check out Worlds of Fun and Oceans of Fun. There is a Harley Davidson (motorcycle) factory there and they offer factory tours. If you want more details on any of this, you can look it up on the Internet.

Definitely see the Country Club Plaza and The Legends at Village West. Eat some BBQ. See the World War I Memorial. Go to Worlds of Fun and Oceans of Fun. Go to a Royals baseball game. See some live jazz.

For standard pedestrian fare you'll need to spend some time in the Country Club Plaza and make sure you venture to Lawrence, Kansas (home of the University of Kansas) for a Saturday. The scenery is lovely. :)

That's just for starters. Like any city, the most enjoyable parts aren't what's geared toward the tourists. I welcome you in advance and I hope you find the city and its inhabitants gracious and entertaining.

It all depends on what you would like to do.

If you want to Party...good bars & food go to the Plaza, Legends Mall (the whole area is fun it's where the Nascar track is), Zona Rosa (North by the airport...It has a really nice comedy club and theater), Southwest Blvd (if you like mexican food), and of course BBQ...it's everywhere.

The Farmers Market is fun to go to on the weekends. It is downtown.

Concerts to see either at Sprint Center (inside venues) or Verizon Amplitheater (outside venues).

There is the Zoo, Worlds of Fun / Oceans of Fun and baseball games.

The Casino's are fun too Ameristar & Harrah's are the best (I think)....More to do at these than the 2 others I didn't mention.

Also your only 3.5 hours away from St Louis too....it's a fun place to visit as well!
