How much should i save up for a 1 month trip to Japan?

i know it would depend on where i plan to go and what i plan to do there, but i really haven't planned yet. if someone could advice me a rough estimate of costs i would appreciate it very much. =)

If you are planning to stay in a centralized area and do day trips and whatnot you should consider renting a monthly furnished apartment rather than hotel--this will save you a lot. If you are not too picky on what your room is like you can probably rent a room for 1000USD p/mo.

As for daily spending money... if it's Tokyo, figure maybe 10USD per day for getting aroud (JR//subway etc). Taxis are extremely expensive in Tokyo and should be avoided. A taxi from the airport to Tokyo is more than 200USD whereas a nice comfy fast train is less than 60.

Try to budget 20 at least a day for food--unless you can eat McD's or conbini all day everyday.

500+ shopping and entertainment and then the plane ticket too.

You could maybe sqeeze thin and be okay with 3500 and airfare total, but I would try for more if you can.
