The Israel-Jordan Armistice Agreement, signed on 3 April 1949, divided Jerusalem, with Jordan controlling the eastern part, including the Old City, and Israel the western part. Before the War of Independence, Jerusalem was an international zone. However, Jordan and Egypt invaded Israel. Israel won the war, pursuing the Arab nations to the pre-67 borders.
