Tell me about Broad Ripple Indianapolis?

Can someone please tell me what the Broad Ripple Indianapolis area and it's history is? Is it an old/money wealthy neighborhood? What are the demographics? A few years ago I read about a new condominium development that was being built. Can someone tell me the name? I know that it's full of culture, restaraunts, art and musuem but any detailed information that someone can provide will be helpful. Also, if you can direct me to any links of pictures would also be helpful. I am writing a story and one of the characters lives in Broad Ripple. thank you so much

Also, what is crime like in the area? Is the area well protected by law inforcement?

broad ripple is considered to be the young and hip area of indy. not old money or wealthy. in fact it borders the ghetto. however it also borders the meridian-kessler district which is wealthy and established.

Broad Ripple is actually a "village" and is one of 6 cultural districts of Indianapolis, and is located north of downtown.

Go to google and type in Broad Ripple Indiana, and you will get a lot of different hits.

yes it is a very cool neighborood north of down town click on link below and use dropdown boxes at top for more info and pics

Broad Ripple is definitely not an old money type of neighborhood. Its really the arts district with a lot of cute little shops, restaurants, boutiques, art galleries and bars. It sits right on the Monon Trail which is a beautiful paved path that stretches across a good part of Indianapolis. If you would like names of specific places like restaurants or bars, I can help you with that or I'm sure you can find some info. on the Internet as well. Good luck on your story!

Best place on earth. It's a very quirky area, and has some of the best restaraunts: 3 Sisters Cafe, Bazbeaux Pizza, and Aristocrat. I love all the vintage stores and the rainbow bridge. I believe the crime rate is not incredibly high, but still up there (it is located in Indy, after all).

Also, many of the residents sell homemade or crafted items within their homes. Next to three sisters is what looks like a little apartment complex, but it's actually a bundle of stores--a store that sells instruments, a Wiccan store and a "pot head" store. Broadripple has some chain restaurants--Starbucks, Nothing But Noodles, Hot Box Pizza, and La Joya but some originals as well; like 3 Sisters, La Piedad and Taste Cafe.
