Going to Galveston Tx.in June we want a 2 bed something.?

Want near the beach, must be nice,Please tell what there is to do.Grandaughters going too, ages 15 and 13.Info much appreciated

There are tons of rental places in Galveston, so you should be able to find places easily if you google them. You could also try looking at http://www.galveston.com/default.asp. They have a rental section that should have useful links. Since I live on the island, I don't use rental sites, so I can't be of more help in that area.

However, I can be of assistance as far as what to do while you're here. Since you'll have your granddaughters with you, definitely try to check out Moody Gardens. They have an aquarium and a rainforest that are really neat. They also have a paddlewheel boat that you can take to ride around the bay. There's an IMAX theater there too, if you like that kind of thing. Also try to check out Schlitterbahn. It's a waterpark near Moody Gardens that has a lot of waterslides, lazy river, etc. If you like shopping, check out the Strand. It's a street that has a lot of specialty shops. And while you're there, stop in to La King's confectionary and get an ice cream cone or malt milkshake. It's a throw-back soda shop and confectionary, and they make the candy the old fashioned way right in the store. It's a neat experience and the ice cream can't be beat. You can visit the various historical museums: railroad museum, seaport museum, flight museum, etc. If you're into old architecture, you can tour the old mansions on the island. Start with the Bishop's Palace, Ashton Villa, and the Moody Mansion. Those are all really neat. And of course there are tons of restaurants and some theaters if you want to sit and relax. Good luck and I hope you enjoy your trip to Galveston.

Addition: I forgot to mention you should try to take a Ferry ride to Bolivar peninsula. You can either drive or walk onto the ferry. It's a neat little ride because you can usually see dolphins playing near the boats. You can check out the beaches while you're on Bolivar, or you can just jump back on the ferry and ride back to Galveston. It's worth the trip though.

check out these sites

VRBO.com
rentalo.com
redweek.com

These are for private owner condos and timeshares for rent
We have used them all the time and always find great
accomodations

By the way Galveston is nice, but I think its worth the extra drive to go to South Padre. The ocean is much better there

I rely on this site for my vacation home needs. It is individual owners listing their properties instead of management companies so they tend to be much more affordable. We stayed in a huge house in Orlando for nine days for only $589 and that was with a private pool.

I was looking at Galveston, and it looks like you could find something on the beach for as low as $450/week. That's about $65/nt.
