Weather question for someone near Galveston or Houston?

I'm not from here and I'm in an RV. A major storm is headed our way tomorrow with a moderate to high threat of flooding, wind and hail damage, and tornadoes. I'll take my dog and cat and spend tomorrow at my husband's workplace since I don't want to be in the RV during the storm.

My question is for anyone who lives in Galveston county. When was the last time you had a major storm and was there much damage? Do you know of a website where I could find weather history in the area? Thanks so much.

Woah..
I live in Houston...

The major storm blew through. We had a lot of rain last night, but the winds had died down. Now it is a beautiful Sunday morning at 9AM. Report It

dont wqorry at all
actually a week ago and its nothing
its just rain trust me

Check out this website. It is the official weather forecaster for the USA and probably also has history as well as current warnings. If there are no warnings attached to the weather you know about then you could probably stay at the trailer or if you want to be safe, go to a mall. RV's and mobile homes are fodder for serious weather, so taking shelter is an excellent idea.

Good luck and since this weather is headed my way, see if you can divert it into the Caribbean.

I JUST READ THAT ON THE INTERNET....THEY SAY THIS IS ACTUALLY A RARE OCCURENCE FOR THE LEVE OF THE THREAT. WE RARELY GET TORNADOES. AND IF WE DO THERE REALLY SMALL. HAIL IS NOT TO FREQUENT BUT IT DOES HAPPEN. U REALLY CANT DODGE THE HAIL. JUST PARK UNDER SOMETHING. NOW AS FOR THE WINDS WE SEEM TO ALWAYS GET REALLY STRONG WINDS WITH STORMS CAUSE OF THE WARM AIR COMING OFF OF THE GULF. ITS USUALLY DOESNT LAST THAT LONG. 10 TO 30 MINUTES AT THE MOST OR IT DEPENDS ON HOW FAST THE STORM IS MOVING. IM SURE IT'LL BE ALRIGHT BUT IT IS GOOD YOUR ARE ABREAST TO THE SITUATION. JUST KEEP POSTED. ABC13.COM CLICK ON WEATHER AND THEN CLICK ON WEATHER BLOG. THE METEOROLIGIST GIVES A DAILY UPDATE TO THE WEATHER THROUGH A BLOG.

The most predictable thing about the weather around here is that often is not predictable.

The forecast for Saturday is that conditions are ripe for severe thundershowers in the afternoon. There is also a better than normal chance for a tornado or two.

The line of thunderstorms is supposed to be fast moving. This gives them a better chance of less flooding but stronger winds.

As far as major storm, if you mean just t-storms, they happen about once or twice a month this time of year. Usually there no damage, even to RVs. Sometimes there is localized damage or street flooding. Occasionally a small tornado will spin off and do a little damage. Hail can occur too but happens more often in the summer.

The Gulf Coast is not known for large tornados. Most are very small, short lived ones causing minor damage.

Tropical storms and hurricanes? Now that is a whole other story. But they don't occur until summer.

Play it safe, go to your husband's workplace. The T-storms should quickly move on through as long as the cold front doesn't stall in the area. I prefer My Fox Houston weather radar. It loads a lot quicker than ABC13 radar.
