Does Houston have a good bus system? |
Does Houston have a good bus system? Considering the size of Houston (over 600 square miles), the bus system is good. Remember, however, that Houston is laid out for cars, and the lack of zoning means there are several work "districts". A weird thing. I know of exactly two people who work downtown. Everyone else is in one business district or another. Not really. It ends too early in most places and to keep the so-called undesirables out, many places will not allow the bus system to run in their area at all. While it could use some improvement, the bus system is pretty good. It doesn't go to the into the suburbs, and only covers the areas in Harris county. no. its too slow, unreliable, they have just implemented a new fare system that sucks, the drivers are rude and incompetent. while the bus does go a lot of place i didnt know about, it doesnt go all over. most bus routes are chopped up weird and it usually takes 2 to 3 buses to get to place you would think took only 1. the downfall is you have no other option of public transportation. im from houston lived there all my life Houston has a Light Rail system, buses and taxicabs. METRO busses and rail system The Houston Metro is pretty comprehensive for a city of this size. Contrary to what people are saying the Metro DOES go to the suburbs. There are buildings in the suburbs called "Park and Ride" where people who live there can drive to this building which consists of a large parking garage and then catch the bus which will take them into the city. It's slightly more expensive than the buses that run in the innercity area but it's definitely cheaper than buying the gas to drive from the suburbs into town. I think it's fine. I commute from the Clear Lake area every day and use Metro to get to and from work. When I'm downtown, I either take LightRail, a cab or another bus to where I need to go. |
