Does it ever get cold in Maui, Hawaii....?

where you yould wear a sweater or a shal?

Thank you to all three of you. that was very informative.

I am from Germany and grew up there. All year summer and hot weather is not really for me. I am more of a Fall season kind a girl and can't stand the heat for very long. I've asked the question because I am considering to move to Maui.

Thanks again.

At sea level it stays relatively warm this time of year.It gets into the low 60's at night then well today it will get to 81. A month ago it was very cool, in the sixties all day and that is cold for us. When you get into the higher elevations such as upcountry it is much cooler up there. To be on the safe side, I would bring a few warm clothes, like a sweater or long pants, but during the day it is mostly shorts weather.

Yes, depending on where you are and what you consider to be cold. Us locals normally consider anything in the low 70's to be a bit chilly where we'd break out a lightweight jacket or sweater but you may not find that cold.

If you are in upcountry Maui, it's definately fireplace weather up there in the evenings and early mornings.

Hope that helps......

3 days ago Kahului area. Where the airport is, was 55 degrees. That would mean that upcountry would have been in the 40's And the summit of Haleakala would have been in the 20's.
The summit is usually 20 plus degrees cooler than sea level.
And this week it is still pretty cool. So you might want to bring some warm clothes.

If you like cooler weather, then you would want to live in "upcountry Maui" on the slopes of Haleakala. But chances are you would need to work at sea level & it will be warmer there.
