Where did these trees come from? |
I saw photos of a Hawaiian beach, and there were huge, simple huge stubs of trees, with roots, and people sitting on them, I'd say at least 5 meters high. Where do they come from? These stubs look like European trees, no palms, and cut down with a saw. Did they swim there all the way through Europe, washed off some beach where they were sawn, or something? Maui, Hawaii There are many kinds of trees in Hawaii, not just palm trees. The vast majority of trees in Hawaii are conifers and deciduous trees, both native and introduced. Those guys don't get their picture taken as much because tourists want a photo that is recognizably trpoical! I agree with Beckee, most likely Iron Wood or Banyan, though I lean towards Iron Wood. There is a state beach park near my home, Waimanalo Bay Recreational Area, but the local mostly refer to it as "Sherwoods" as in Sherwood forest. The Iron Wood trees are pretty thick through there and the grow right up to the very edge of the shore. Looks like Banyon Trees to me!!! |
