Living in kauai?

to is it very expensive to move to kauai? How easy is it to find a 3 bdr place for rent about 2000 a month? Coastal versus inland prices?
thanks for all of you answers!

It is pretty expensive, but if you plan well and save up you should be ok. $2k is a realistic price to be paying for a 3br place, but most places here require a deposit, so be sure to plan for that. Housing is cheaper on the west side of the island (Kekaha, Waimea, Ele'ele) because it's further away from the main towns of Lihue and Kapaa. Of course, depending on what kind of job you want to get or have already, living on the south/west side of the island may be better. It's good if you want/have a job in the resort industry, military, or construction, Poipu has the best hotels, PMRF, the missile range, is in Kekaha, and both are getting more and more developed.

If you didn't want to be on the drier side of the island, you can still find a place in Wailua, Lihue, or Hanalei. Inland (Wailua and Lihue) are going to be cheaper, obviously, but because Hanalei is also far away from the main towns, you can find something around that price range up there too.

All in all, just do your research and make you sure answer as many questions as possible before coming. Go to craig's list or www.kauaiworld.com to check out the classifieds.
