What to do?

I am going to Naalehw, HI later this month. I was wondering what unuasl and fun things there are to do in the Hilo area. We plan to go up on Naalehw one day and the beach one day. I need help with the other 4 days.

my MOM lives there and i belive Naalehw is the name of the volcano.

Naalehu is a very small town on the south side of the Big Island of Hawaii. Kilauea is the name of the volcano that is currently erupting (and has been since 1983).

*You can check out the Pacific Tsunami Museum in Hilo -- very interesting!
*Ahalanui is south of Hilo -- it's a spring that is heated by underground lava. Kind of like a spa without bubbles. Really fun and in a pretty area.
*Kehena is a black sand beach near Ahalanui that is very pretty. If you haven't seen black sand before, definitely check it out! Sometimes there are nude bathers there, FYI.
*Go to Ken's House of Pancakes in Hilo. Huge menu, very old school. Great food!
*Go to Volcanoes National Park. Be sure to stop at Thurston Lava Tube and check to see if there is an above ground lava flow while you're there. Seeing new land being created as you stand and watch is quite amazing!

Have a great time!
Aloha :)

GO TO EiTHER MONE LOA OR MONA KEYA I DONT KNOW WHICH ONE IT IS AND GO STAR GAZING!!
so unbelievabl!!!!!

go see the lava
stay at the bed and breakfast inn
they give you a free breakfast and flashlight
1 hour hike to the lava

Go to Kona, Hawaii, they have a bubba gumps and hard rock cafe and a reallly good resteraunt called on the rocks where you eat on the beach

Hapuna beach
Kahaluu beach (great shallow snorkeling)

go to waipu valley

Volcanoes National Park is interesting--that's where you can see recent lava and walk on nearly-cool lava flow. Akaka Falls is a good side trip, near Hilo. I would also recommend going to Kona--a day trip or stay overnight. You can also drive up the Hamakua Coast--nice scenery.
