As of 2008, does traveling to Hawaii require a US passport? |
I know they changed the requirements for travel to the Bahamas as of January 2007. I searched websites but couldn't find an answer according to Hawaii. Thanks! Yes, thank you all for being smart and telling me that Hawaii is part of the US. The Bahamas are also a territory of the United States but they require a passport to travel there. Theres no need to be rude. Well...here's the problem...the Bahamas are NOT a U.S. territory. The Bahamas were a British colony until 1973...when the became independent from Britain. They continue to be part of the British Commonwealth of Nations and are under the reign of Queen Elizabeth. See article below. You may be thnking of Puerto Rico, a commonwealth of the U.S., or the U.S. Virgin Islands, territories of the U.S. no Hawaii is a part of the usa. You do not need a passport to go to Hawaii or any other US state or owned territory. Best thing is when booking your trip ask your agent but if you buy online call the 800# and ask them. I believe if it's in the continental US you don't need a passpot. But checking does not hurt. Unless you are NOT a US citizen, you do not need a passport to travel to Hawaii since it is part of the US Missed geography, didn't you! Hawaii is a U.S. State, no different than traveling to New York or Tennessee or Idaho, just more expensive and always perfect weather. dude its part of the us why would you eed one? not as long as you don't get off the plane before you get there Not unless you are from Mars or some other place where they don't know that Hawaii is an American state. Just like you don't need a passport to go to California or Florida either. No. A passport is only required for travel outside the 50 United States and Puerto Rico. Nope. No Passport needed. What you do need is a form of ID that tells you are from the U.S.A.. A Driver's License, State ID or if you want a Passport. If you are a US citizen, you have not needed a passport to travel to or from Hawaii since 1959 when it became the 50th US state. As you found out, US has been a state since 1959. Bahamas is NOT American but British, but you also need a passport for US territories such as USVI, Puerto Rico and Guam. Have a nice trip here! Hawaii is part of the United States of America. YES if coming from another country....... |
