Would you get the hep shot if travelling to jamaica??

if no or yes please state why??

I would get it, but then we try to get any recommended vaccinations and keep them up to date because we like to travel at a moments notice... we'd rather not have to worry about if our vaccinations are up to date and we think it's just smart to take all the precautions you can to stay healthy.

Check with the website for the US Center for Disease Control or your national health service to see what they recommend. http://wwwn.cdc.gov/travel/contentVaccin... Here's our page on health tips: http://www.mousetourstravels.com/interna... and our page on vaccinations: http://www.mousetourstravels.com/interna...

And don't forget to pack Pepto-Bismol.... we never leave home without it, though we do take the tablets now. You can read what we have to say on that.... it's the best for not bringing your intestines home in a bag! http://www.mousetourstravels.com/pepto-b...

Happy travels... even if you don't travel the world... just remember that life is a journey... embrace and enjoy it! http://www.mousetourstravels.com

I would ask at the US Public Health Office, If they came back with only certain places in Jamaica would require it I would get it even if I had not planned to go to one of those places. The reason that I tell you to check with the US Public Health Office is because these lists change all of the time and it only takes a few minutes to call and ask them.

Hep A probably, because that's transmitted by unsanitary conditions (not washing hands after you use the bathroom), Hep B definitely not. Hep B is transmitted the same way AIDS is, so if you aren't planning on having sex with strangers or using IV drugs while you're there, really no point.
