My 13yo daughter is scared to fly....is there anything i can do to help her?

We are goin on a plane to visit family and my daughter is a lil scared to fly. She has been on a plane before as an unoccponied minor. Is there anything i can do to help her!?

Try to get her focused on the enjoyable aspects of flight.

If possible, get her seated near a window and point out constantly the fantastic views you get above the city or at night. Looking through the window can occupy their time from the plane taking off until you are in the clouds.

I was once scared of flying, though its nice to have someone to be there with you, it can be a little unnerving if you talk too much about them not needing to be scared before the plane has even started.

There is usually activity booklets in the seat infront, if you can get her engrossed in those it will help too. Music, movies and reading are good distractions until they find that there isn't much to be scared about flying.

try dramamine or you can ask a doctor and see if they can give her anythign to calm her nerves

Reassure that you will be with her this time and then don't concentrate on the flight. While in the airport and on the plane choose topics that don't revolve around the plane. If you keep her occupied on the plane she will have an easier time thinking about something else. My mom is scared to fly but when we fly we just let her do what she wants. She is always stressed on the plane but likes flying better than driving.

one of my favorite movies, and hopefully after that, she wont be scared of planes anymore .

This will work.. show her some funny movie about the plane it must have inside view of the plane in the air.
Tell her the great invention of the plane . Finally when your flying buy what she wants ..you need to assure her that your always care for her.

I WAS TOO SCARED TO FLY GIVE HER SOME THING THAT MAKES HER FEEL SAFE AND DON'T GET BACK SEATS ITS TO BUMPY I THIN SO THAT SHOULD DO IT THERES NOTHING REALLY YOU COULD DO BUT KEEP HER CALM AND MAKE HER FEEL SAFE YOU BEEN A MOM FOR SO LONG YOU SHOULD KNOW WHAT KEEPS YOUR CHILD HAPPY

Alright, i'm 14 and i used to be so scared of flying that i would just ball up in the seat and cry the whole time. I'm over it now, so it's good.
The things that calmed me down:
-MUSIC!!!! it gives you something else to think about than the plane, especially if it's catchy music that she really likes.
-Bring a teddy bear to squeeze, I always needed something to hold onto when I got scared.
-Gum, the taste is just another thing to distract from the plane.
-Maybe some little portable boardgames, so she is looking at something else than the plane.
