Scared of planes?

I have to take a plane to brazil tomorrow and I'm really scared of flying. Any tips to help me relax?

Hi, you really have nothing to worry about (except perhaps the drive to the airport, that is where the real risks are driving) also, don't worry if there happens to be any turbulence or anything (it is a normal thing and airliners take it in their stride it is well within the design specs and they have been tested throughly to deal with it. Should you ever begin to feel nervous in the flight for whatever reason just take a look at the flight attendants, if they are not worried you have no reason to be (they know alot about flying from experience).

don't worry..it's more lrelaxing than sitting in a room..its real still and comfortbale with a tv..especially the international flights..just close ur eyes on lift off

Once your on the plane youll get used to it unless you get naceus. Bring TUMS just in case... bring your iPod (or mp3) and put relaxing songs you like. You can sleep for most of the flight which willl make it go by really quick. I'm guessing you live in America and it is not that far away from Brazil. It will be a short ride.

Good Luck! Have fun in Brazil =]

fall asleep.listen to some music.read a book.watch a movie.think of family.

read a book that you are really into, it will keep your mind busy, or better yet have a drink and go to sleep. :) it's not that bad, i used to be scared of flying too, you'll get use to it. Have fun in Brazil.

Depends on how old. If older than 21, get a drink at the airport. They serve magnolias for that reason, a breakfast alcohol drink.

I would look at flying as adventure. Look at takeoff as a fun ride to swish you off into the sky. Then enjoy looking at all the sights from above, all the patterns on the ground.

Then focus on the stewards do their activities. Watch people do their little things. Look though the flight magazines and catalog.

Just take it all in stride.

I always take a good book with me and make sure I have an mp player cause most of the time I don't like what they have for movies. This will keep your mind off the flight and you be there before you know it.

I am the same way! I freak when im not on solid ground. This is what I do:
1. Bring lots of magazines of your choice.
2. Bring your iPod or some type of music device.
3. Do you have a laptop? If so than take that along w/ you.
5. DON'T LOOK AT THE WINDOW. It will make you hyperventilate.
6. I know it sounds stupid but take lots of gum and chew it, you will be more focused on the gum than being in the air.

Hope this worked for you :) it does for me!

Bring something to keep you occupied, maybe your favorite book or a movie. I bring my psp and some games and movies. If you don't have a psp get one, there a great way to kill time.

Im terrified of flying too.
But the most dangerous part of the trip really is the drive to the airport it really is much more dagerous to be driving and you know just how calm u r wen ur driving.

I try sleep throughout the beggining of the flight and once its up and and flying smoothly its alot easier to just relax.tubulance is normal and just coz its a bumpy ride dont mean ur gonna crash.Relax and enjoy the flight. If it really was dangerous, the pilot wouldn't get on and fly a plane knowing he might die.

don't worry about a thing. the only mildly scary parts are landing and take-off. and the likelihood of you getting in a crash are like, one in a million.

u should have bought the book "fear of flying".

it tells u why ppl are fearful in the first place and ways to cope with it.

everytime i go flying, i read it.

Talk to your DR. about your fears, he may prescribe a sedative for you. A Valium can do wonders. If you stay with the major U.S. carriers you'll be safe....GOOD LUCK!!!!
