On average how much does the yellow fever vaccine cost if you get it done by your GP?

Does the GP usually just refer you to a private clinic?

I think the current rate is floating around 拢40. It is definitely not free. Your GP won't necessarily refer you to a private clinic but they will refer you to the nearest clinic that provide Yellow Fever vaccinations. You will need to book in advance as the vaccination may need to be ordered. It's advised you do not have any vaccinations for at least a fortnight before or a fortnight afterwards. Also discuss any medications you are taking in case of any reactions. You should not travel to a Yellow Fever area for at least 10 days after the vaccination. You cannot take the vaccination if you are allergic to eggs. Bear in mind that this is a live vaccination so you may come down with a mild fever the following day.

My GP gave me my Yellow Fever jab - it cost 拢35. I had to book it in advance though as they didn't stock it as standard.

I got a little booklet with it, which they stamped and certified - you'll need to show this at immigration. Enjoy your trip

If you are not too far from London, phone the hospital for tropical diseases to make an appointment. They will also tell you the exact cost. I believe this to be around 拢40-拢50.
