Favorite city?

What is your favorite Greek city and why?

Hmmm.....did I mention Greek city?

Volos and the Skiathos (an island near Volos). Best place on eath :). Volos combines some of the most beautiful beaches in Greece, and also has a beautiful mountain, that ends in the sea. Just BEAUTIFUL. MUST SEE!

http://www.magnesia-tourism.gr/
but that's not all you can see....there are much more

i think Halkidiki ( the Kassandra leg) must be perfect because I'm going to there at Easter and summer until October for my school practice.
I'm studng chef

By far the most beautiful place in Greece is the Island of Santorini which has a magnificent car-free village accessible by cable car on the top of a mountain, filled with spiral steps leading down to lodge after lodge with swimming pools overlooking the Sea on all sides. Going down from the mountain you take a donkey ride. The food, the scenery, the culture, is all out of this world.

It is one of the world's most breathtaking places.

Mine is Chania. So beautiful, so much life yet so tranquil.

1)Giannena
there's a beautiful lake with an island inside...
mountains around....
many young people...
this city is full of life!!!
2)Limnos (generally)
a great island...
great beaches...
great castle...
great people...

Khalkida Evia kai Sfakia Kriti kai Dafnes Kriti

Thessaloniki and Limassol

I love Ermoupoli in Syros... It's so beautiful, full of life and peaceful at the same time... The thing I like the most about it is how modernism blends with tradition in an almost magical way!

Thessaloniki. It has everything!

That is a difficult question to answer, simply because there are so many cities that can be my favorite. So apart from Corfu for obvious reasons since that is where I live, I'll choose Thessaloniki for being alive and friendly and more humane.

I love different cities for different reasons
Athens - because it was home for 10 yrs and I know it like the back of my hand - I always get to show off to my husband when we go down there!

Ioannina - because it is really magical - it is sooo historical! Everything about it is beautiful especially at Christmas!

Thessaloniki - Don't really know it that well - but I found the people very friendly and really liked the place when I was there for a few days

Patra - love it for shopping!!! Personally I hate shopping - but I've worked out a route that gets me where and what I want in Patra - it's my fav place to shop (apart from online - which I'm an expert at)

My favorite town is Preveza http://www.preveza.gr Nothing beats the feeling or sight of Preveza as you come round the last corner on your way from Amfilochia and see Preveza stretched out in front of you.

Omorfi Thessaloniki for me. The most beautiful city in Greece

THE GREEK CONSTANTINOPLE.............................

I love the city I live in...Thessaloniki is amazing....I love it that I was born and raised here =D

Moscow, because of the history, the power and the might and because everything is possible there.

Edit : Sorry for the mistake... I didn't read your additional info. My favourite Greek city is Corfu town because it's very beautiful.

200 7.62 - Moscow isn't in Greece.

I like Ioannina. It has a big lake and an amazing cave with stalagnites.

I also like Larisa. Although it's big it has the feeling of a small town.

I love Athens. Something about the ancient and the new blended together the way it is. I have spent much time there and adore it. Some of the outer suburbs are breathtaking too. I love Voula, Thymari, Glyfada (Its fun but somewhat "American' due to the old Air Force Base) Kifissia, etc.

Thessaloniki,Athens=Eleusina,Pireas;Hrak...

Kavala- because my grandmother's god daughter lives there with her husband and their hospitality was so great!

~k~

Mykonos, Rhodes, Corfu, Santorini

this is my city Kavala
Kavala, the prefectural capital, rises like an amphitheatre up the sides of the foothills of Mt. Sim volo. Though a modem commercial city, it has no dearth of features belonging to its colourful past.

The spacious squares, contemporary buildings, and shopping centres on the west side of the city form a pleasant contrast to the traditional old houses, tiny gardens and flagged alleyways of the eastern side.

The harbour is particularly Picturesque with its countless brightly coloured fishing caiques moored along the waterfront. Among the city''''''''s impressive landmarks are the old walls, the Byzantine castle, and the Kamares - the aqueduct erected by Suleiman the Magnificent in the 16th century - Mehmet Ali''''''''s house (18th century) and the Imaret, a Turkish building.

The walk UP to Profitis Was to admire the panoramic view over the city takes you through the fascinating old district.

If You like to swim and eat fresh fish, then head for the lovely beaches and friendly favernas not far from town at such places as Kalamitsa, Palio, Nea Iraklitsa, Raspani, Perigiali, and Nea Peramos.

Other villages in attractive settings are Agios Silas, with its homonymous monastery, Palia Kavala, Krioneri, Korifes and Stavros on a hill, for those who collect views.

Not far from Kavala (17 km.), near the tobaccoproducing villages of Krinides and Filipi, you''''''''ll find the ruins of the ancient Macedonian city of Filipi, named after its founder, Philip 11. Still visible on the site are the remains of two Early Christian basilicas, traces of the via Egnatia, the grand Roman forum, the acropolis, the theatre, etc.~
