are hymns used in turkey(constantinople) different than hymns used in greek church? because I heard that in turkey, they use greek hymns too. but, Its sound and style is quite different than hymns used in churches in greece. I'm not sure I understand your question. You are asking about the hymns sung in the Greek churches of Constantinople compared to the hymns sung in the Greek churches of Greece. Is that it? From my experience, the hymns are the same, but in Turkey, at least at the church I visited, the style of byzantine chanting seemed somewhat more ornate and complicated. No the Hymns of the Greek Orthodox Christianity are the same cause are based on the middle eastern and Persian traditions ! if you see an ancient Persian how they dressed you can see an christian preacher ! Constantinopole now only has less than 5000 Greeks after the population change between Greece and Turkey, so there aren't too many Greek Orthodox churches. Greek Orthodox churches anywhere in the diaspora use the same hymns though. |
