What's the best way to meet people in Greece?

I'm not shy, and I speak the language fluently... but I know the culture differs substantially. Is it acceptable to just walk up to someone and strike up a conversation? I'm a teen, so it's a bit intimidating. I have a few friends in Greece, but they live in different areas.
Also, I know there are plenty of guys out there that are sleazy. What's the best way to know if I've found a gentleman or just... well, you know. =)

Thanks for your help!

In summer - on the islands - you'll meet loads of people (sleazy and not)
just be yourself - cultures are different but nowadays that difference is tinyl!
Enjoy!

Ps That's happened to me on a bus in Athens (quite a few times) don't judge Greek men by the sickos that travel public transport doing that kind of thing! I once watched a really young girl get that treatment - I pushed him (hard) and shouted he ran off the bus!

When I was in Greece, some creep was bothering me on a public bus. I don't think I would get to personal with anyone unless they were refered by one of your friends.

The best way is to be introduced by common friends. If you can hold your ground then approaching a company will be the best way to meet people. As long as you are not provocative in a sexual manner and you are open to flirting then that will be the way.
However, you should be on the alert for the peculiar guys that will take your manners as lightness of character. To elders if you show respect by calling them sir and not by their names is a certain way to earn their respect too. To most older people than you, it would be somewhat insulting to call them by their name and not as "Kyrie......"
If you do that even to people close to your age they'll get the message that you are not game.

mastidon do you mean makedonia ? ps look at your lexikon for your speling .

Since you are obviously, young and naive, even though you speak the language please do not be too, trusting....Greeks, that have been brought up outside Greece, are very different to the locals, that have been brought up here. WATCH YOUR BACK AT ALL TIMES, AND LISTEN TO MY ADVICE; JUST BECAUSE THEY SEEM FRIENDLY DOES MAKE THEM HONEST AND GOOD...IT A FACADE

go to macedonia then you can meet people
