Fast Food in Spain?

For class I have to comapre the fast food habits of people here in America vs. Spain.

For example, in Germany, I know that people often share their tables if they are not using all of the seats with complete strangers.

It doesnt have to necessarly be fast food, it can be resturants, takeaways, cafes, etc. etc.

Info on tipping at fast food, sharing your seat, ordering, etc etc would all be helpful

Eating out in Spain is a real pleasure. If you go into a restaurant for a meal, the table is for you and your guests for the whole evening or lunch if thats what you want. You just have to say to the waiter "no tenemos prisa", it means we have no hurry.
There are increasing fast food places here in Spain but most Spaniards eat out at restaurants. On Sunday whole families go out together for lunch. On a Saturday night it is not unusual to see families going out to dinner quite late. They even have young children and babies with them. It's all about the family here.

you will get punch in your stomach if you do that in spain ! :P

MMM the most of restaurants in Spain are SUPER. And the food is do good. But there are McDonalds, Burger kings, etc. too.
Food in spain is better i think, cause you can it well in everywhere you go.

Typical "fast food", in the spanish vernacular is "tapas". You go into any bar or restaurant, and there will be food in a case above the bar. You can just point if you like, to the food that looks good, and you don't even need to know how to say it. They also generally have a blackboard with tapas and prices on it (though the handwriting is difficult to decipher, even for one who actually knows this). That's what THEY call fast food. They, of course, have been inundated with American Chains...most prevalent being McD's, Pizza Hut and KFC, but others are out there. Those places are best used for their restrooms, because nobody asks you why you are entering the joint. The food? well, why bother.

As for sharing tables? In Spain, tapas are generally eaten on foot, standing in groups (and shared with your party) or at small tables. Sharing tables with strangers? Not common.

Take away is much less common than in the US, and probably England.

Typically, in Spain the diet consists of this:

A very light "first" breakfast, of just toast and coffee or tea.

at about 10 or 11, they'll take a break and have something a bit more substantial, such as a ham or cheese bocadillo, or a tortilla.

At around 2:00, they have a big meal, consisting of 2 plates, a rice/soup/pasta, and then a meat or egg with potatoes. This is generally accompanied by a glass of beer or wine. We found that at places that offer a "men煤 del d铆a", they charge more if you ask for soda.

At 5:00 ish, people probably stop for something on their way back to work, and then a snack (tapas) at about 9:00 with a large dinner (somewhat like lunch) at between 10 and midnight.

They are very late to go down to sleep, and a bit late at rising. I found that waking at about 6:30 AM (I was SUPER jazzed to get going) and trying to get my coffee at any time before 8:00, I often wound up waiting outside the caf茅s to open up.

I have been to a mall in Ourense, Spain. They have McDonalds and Ben & Jerrys. Those are the two american fast food places i remember although, there may have been more.

Well in Spain are fast food with seats, ordering, not usually takeaway, maybe the takeaways of Burger King o McDonalds with car but not much.
