INTERESTING facts about Lille, France?

I just put up this question in Homework help, but I figured that travel might know better than students in school. I need some interesting facts about Lille, I've been looking all over the place and it just isn't happening. PLEASE HELP!!! I've got a project due tomorrow. I've been looking forever. thanks

Lille and its region are known for having mussels and fries ( = "moules-frites") as their traditional staple food. One of the restaurants of Lille launched a funny tradition a long time ago: they throw the empty mussel shells from people's plates out in the street so it piles up. It has become a competition between restaurants as to who has the largest/tallest pile of mussel shells outside their restaurant. Because it means they had the most clients/orders of mussels and fries. Don't worry, it's only done once a year during the Grande Braderie* and they clean up afterwards and Lille does not have a tropical climate that would make it stink within minutes!

The most famous restaurant in Lille is called "Aux Moules" (at the mussels'). Here is the English version of their website: http://www.auxmoules.com/index.php?langu...

The main square is called la Grand'Place and it is in the heart of the touristic and pedestrian district. It is very lively.

* la Grande Braderie de Lille is a yearly event which takes place the first weekend of September; it is the largest "flea market" in Europe and attracts 2 million people in two days every year.
