Where should we visit in the Loire Valley in France?

Where should we visit in the Loire Valley in France?

again a vague question that doesn't say what you like to see and do... but... from my visit

the chateaus are the biggest attractions as well as winery visits.

I visited the following
Beauregard, Chambord, Cheverny (get here about 3 for the feeding of the hounds, a fantastic thing to see, especially if you like comical dogs) , Chenonceau (a favorite of many bcause of its setting), Usse, Amboise, Serrant...

After this list was through, I had about had it with Chateaus

Cities: Saumur, Tours, Orleans, Angers in that order of appeal.. (personal preference)

Winery's are scattered about and I'd have to pull out my book to look up the ones I've been to.. it's France.. they are all good. avoid little shops in the cities selling over priced wine. search out reputable wine cellars if you want variety in one shot.

I'm not big on reservations and like to free wheel... Each little village will tend to have some sort of accommodations. If you are of the more rigid.. there are a ton of tourist web sites as well as Michelin and logis de france. I like to use bookingbuddy.com sometimes to start.. It's a UK site.

Last advice.. don't let people push you around in queues (lines) ... my favorite line in such instances.. "back off Jacque"

how's that to get your started?
