Taking Canadian money into Canada?

This is probably the most stupid question ever asked, but I am concerned.
I have about $40 worth of Canadian coins, mostly pennies, and am planning a trip to Canada. It is illegal to take large amounts of US pennies out of the US.
I cannot imagine that I would get arrested for returning Canadian coins to Canada, but weird things do happen occasionally at border crossings.
Does anybody here work at the border?

There will be no problem in bringing the money into Canada and there is no requirement to declare it. I often collect coins from the US that I receive in my change here in Canada and bring them down when I make a trip there. There are legal limits as to how many different types of coins a vendor has to accept in change so, if you can, change them for paper money at a bank once you get to Canada. Do not try to change them down there as most banks are not interested in changing Canadian coin for paper money.

as long as they are wrapped in rolls, there will be no problem, but your best bet is to go to a bank to exchange them for bills

change it

I don't think you would get arrested for returning Canadian money back into Canada however, it's better to change them into bills before leaving your country.

You really do not need to worry about it. You can bring the coins back into Canada. No one is going to pay any attention to it. In the overall scheme of things it is not a big deal.

you must declare it if you are brining in more than $10,000.00 cash. If it's all in change, you'll need a truck to bring it all.... so I expect you don't have enough to be an issue
