What are the hot tourist spots of Detroit?

What are the hot tourist spots of Detroit?

Well if you are coming this week I would highly recomend the North American Auto Show at Cobo Hall.

Aside from that our largest tourist draws currently are the Detroit Redwings and Pistons (Auburn Hills). The sweet sixteen and final four will be at Ford Field in mid march.

Detroit offers some fantastic casinos MGM Detroit, Motor City, The Greektown Casino.

There are a few world class museums. The Detroit Institute of Art is showcasing its multi million dollar renovation (Vincent Van Goghs self portrait). Detroit Science Center and the new Detroit Modern Arts Museum.

There are some wonderful venues for live music also. Detroit Symphony, Detroit Opera House, The Fox Theatre, The Fillmore. There is also a large amount of smaller venues featuring local talent. The Magic Stick, St Andrews Hall, The Buzz Bar, and Jacobys.

I hope you enjoy yourself while you are here, and be sure to tell a friend how much fun you had in one of the midwests most cultural cities.

Greek town, Detroit Zoo, Greenfield Village, MGM casino

Get on the People Mover pick up a map and you can make a complete loop around the city with stops at the Rennaissance Center, Cobo, Greek Town, the Financial District and a couple other I can't quite remember. It costs like $1 and you can get on and off. They also have a website and believe you can get a map to print out

Well right now we have the Auto Show, there is also greektown, a few different casinos, tons of resturants and clubs, there is also the Detroit Zoo. Also Michigan is home to the great lakes, They are beautiful, travel about an hour and half north of detroit and you'll really see some beautiful sights!

Fisher Building
Comerica Park

The Auto Show

anywhere along the 7 mile and van dyke area

If you get the chance and want to get off the beaten path, check out Ferndale and Birmingham. Great shopping and restaurants. The casinos are fun - lots of penny slots. I don't really know if anything in Detroit is technically "hot" - but if you know where to go you can have fun. If you like "80's music" try to get lucky enough to catch the "Mega80's band" in Ferndale. Most of the action is in the suburbs. There's excellent shopping at the Twelve Oaks Mall and don't forget IKEA in Canton.

I believe the infamous "Drive-By" carnival ride is there but make sure you wear your Teflon vests

I would say the Five Top Tourist Spots in Detroit in the winter time are;

1. Detroit Institute of Art

2. Ford Field

3. MGM Casino and Hotel
