Does anyone have advice on where to move in Colorado?

Hi-
I'm a 23 year old female. I'm moving to Colorado at the end of March for an internship at Broomfield High School in Colorado. I plan on staying in Colorado after the internship ends. I was originally planning on moving to Boulder but after doing some research apartments in Denver seemed to be slightly cheaper. Both places had about a 35 minute commute to the high school, which is perfectly fine with me. I really want to move to Denver, but I'm a little concerned about safety because I'm a small girl that is going to be living alone. It seems like all the surrounding areas are great, but I want some form of social scene, since I want to make friends. I'm concerned about moving to the suburbs (Broomfield, Westminster, Louisville, etc.) because I'm afriad that I'll be a little isolated from people that are my age. Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks! :o)

If you want to have a social life beyond the Applebees bar, I would strongly suggest steering clear of the suburbs. The suburbs are great for families but horrible for young people like us (I'm 26 and live in Cherry Creek). You should live in the actual city of Denver. I don't know what your budget is like but Lodo, Riverfront, Cherry Creek, Highland (NOT Highlands Ranch) and Washington Park are all awesome neighborhoods for younger people that are extremely safe and also have a neighborhood feeling with shops/bars/restaurants that you can walk to. The only catch is they are somewhat expensive compared to other Denver neighborhoods. However, if your housing budget is $900 or more per month, you will have plenty of options.

Also, http://www.hubbuzz.com/ has very good 3rd party superficial descriptions of the Denver neighborhoods. E-mail me any time with questions.

Boulder is higher priced but a much easier commute from boulder to broomfield than it is from Denver to Broomfield. Boulder is a cool place if you can handle the liberals, hippies, extreme athletes and PETA. If you are republican steer clear. It is pretty though. Anyway Westminster also has a good amount of young people. If you look at areas in Denver you will want to stay away from anywhere near Colfax, Broadway, or Five Points. Washington Park and Areas around DU are younger crowds.

As said before, steer clear of the suburbs. Great neighborhoods for people your age are South Platte and LoDo.

I won't just say to stay clear of the suburbs but YELL IT! HA! The Suburbs here are so boring and lack substance of anything beyond mini malls and corner pubs. They are ok for families, but for a single I imagine within a week or two you would want to poke your eye out.

However the commute from Denver to Broomfield won't be any fun. If you can manage - go with Boulder - it will be closer and an easier drive. If you want to go to Denver - try to stay downtown - because certain parts of Denver will say Denver - but it really borders the suburbs and isn't really Denver Denver. Steer clear as well like they said up there of Colfax and 5 points - but most of down town is good and LoDo *lower downtown*

I agree with Knotty. You do not want to drive from Denver to Broomfield everyday. I suggest Louisville and make sure you get a good car so you can drive to Denver to enjoy the downtown life. If you worried about safety I would first find some reliable friends so you do not go out alone. But I would like to say in my opinion Denver is one of the safest big town in the US. But just like any big town you should always use your common sense when going out.

P.S. Denver was voted the best city for young single adults. Have fun! Man I wish I was young again. lol

I would check out the Highlands area. I grew up in Broomfield
