Is Copenhagen very expensive?

Is Copenhagen very expensive?

It depends a lot on your perspective on things, on what you're buying, and on where you're coming from.

If you're American, you'll find Copenhagen expensive -- and most of the rest of Scandinavia also -- simply because Scandinavians don't live like American tourists. In other words, things needed to live in Denmark like a Dane lives in Denmark are not extremely expensive -- but things like hotels, restaurant meals, and so forth (which in Denmark are mostly though of as "business" or "luxury" type expenses, and thus somewhat frowned upon), can be quite expensive, even compared with the rest of Europe.

Also, bear in mind that the exchange rate between the USD and the DKK is at a historical low these days. In the 1980s and early 1990s, 1 USD was worth 10-12 DKK most of the time; today it is only 5. So from an American perspective, everything in Denmark has become twice as expensive in the last decade -- but to the locals there is no difference.

I believe so. My boss went to watch a football match over there. He said the only way they could go to a bar and not worry about how much they were spending was to pretend that their cash was "beer vouchers"...

depends on what the exchange rate is?

Yes, very!! Visit this page to see average prices of everyday goods in Copenhagen. Prices in Danish Kroners (DKK).

Exchange rates:

10.00 DKK = 1.00002 GBP
10.00 DKK = 1.34188 EUR
10.00 DKK = 1.94666 USD

Denmark itself is one of the most expensive countries in the world to live. Gas is 8 dollars a gallon, soda is 3 dollars or more for 2 liters, etc. If you expect to travel there, be sure to research hotels and such for the best prices, and try to be within walking distance of the train or bus stop. Buy food at cheaper stores such as Netto, and limit your spending on gifts because they can get really pricey. 1 dollar is about 5.13 Danish Kroners at the moment. So 100 kr is around 20 dollars.

Well, most people say so, but I think Norway is way more expensive than DK (Copenhagen in particular)

yes, more expensive than their neighbors to the south, the germans. it is the same price as cities in sweden or possibly finland, but norway and england (london), are a lot more expensive.

SO SO SO expensive! A beer will cost you about 11USD =o((

Absolutely yes the houses,apartments,and cars
because of the tax 46%
but the hospitals and schools are free

But the food, clothes are so cheap.

But theres no poor nor rich in that country the treatment is equal I love it!

I can only assume you mean snuff, or chewing tobacco. That ranges between $15-$35 a can.
