Is 600thousand dkk before taxes a good salary for IT Manager positions in copenhagen?

we are a couple with a kid under 2 years and spouse is a homemaker.

Hi!
50.000 a month is clearly over the average for it managers in Denmark. According to the salary statistics of PROSA (Danish union of IT professionals - link below) an IT manager in eastern Denmark (including Copenhagen) averages 43.708 DKK a month before tax.

On top of your salary You should demand a pension plan of 9-10 percent of the salary. That is the norm in that line of work.

Taxes and living expenses are heavy burdens on Danes economy. Luckily for you housing expenses are falling these years.

That is why most couples tend to have to jobs between them and rely on daycare for the kids. Your spouse could also consider finding a job for the social gains of having colleagues and a broader reference group than 'just' you. :o) (Since there is very few home based parents it is hard to find company during the day.)

But you will undoubtedly enjoy working and living in Denmark. It is a nice place to be (with 'nice' being a very precise description of our country.)

Hope to see you here soon!

DKK 600,000 is about 81,000 Euro. As an IT Manager in Denmark I would have thought this is OK but a bit low, because Denmark can be an expensive place and taxes can be high too. But it's a really nice place, people are great too.

You could try calling an Employment Agency in Denmark and ask them, tell them that you are thinking of moving and what is the going rate for an IT Manager in Denmark.

You'll find Danish Employment Agencies on the web, give a few a call, BTW, everyone will be able to speak English.

Best of luck.

Yes, it's fine. I live in the countryside, and it's cheaper to live here, but it would be a great salary where I live. It can't be a bad salary in Copenhagen. In the countryside, 600,000 DKK is what a couple of average workers make.

When your child is 3, he/she will have to be put in daycare. It is the law here. It is also the thing to do if you want your child to learn the local language (a must).
