AARP hotel rates?

I was looking for a hotel on travelocity.com for downtown Fort Worth. All of the listings either say "AARP rate" or "AAA rate, must present ID" Does this mean that I could only get those rooms if I am a member of that organization? Why would they list them on travelocity if they aren't open to everybody? Could I still get the same room but just have to pay extra since I'm not a member? I'm confused. Help!

You can get a membership card for AARP if you're 50 or older. Anyone (with a car presumably) can join AAA. AARP membership is a lot cheaper. Those hotel rates are at discounts arranged through the organizations. They list them on Travelocity because members of AARP/AAA want to know where they get their discount rates. You can get the same room without being a member, but might pay more. But it's worth trying to get the same lower rates by asking the hotels for a discount, or looking for general "special rates" through one of the websites. When hotels aren't full they'll make a deal.

AAA is an auto club that you have to be a member of.

AARP is for retirees.

hey try travelzoo
i use that cuz its tells you which traveling site is the cheapest. cuz there are lots of them. like i think priceline you can give them a bid on a hotel for less than the price. i got a hotel for 30 bucks on a weekend one time. good luck.

oh and for your question. AARP rates is just a discount for old people. unless your grandma is gonna book your hotel. just disregard it

AARP & AAA rates save a person 10%. Just about enough, almost, to pay the tax.

So many people belong to one of these organizations they just list the cheaper price. Yes you must be a member.

AARP rates and AAA rates are discounts for people who have memberships in these organizations. If your are not a member, then you may pay more for the same room. Customers with these AARP and/or AAA reservations usually have to show their membership card when checking in. I'm a member of both organizations. I can usually save about 10-15% at most participating vendors.

Ive been in the hotel; business since 05 (suck *** by the way) but usually we don't ask for verification. Unless its with a private company and to honest you could prob get a better rate if you booked thru the hotel. Now depending on what hotel and its location most hotels have what you call a medical rate and that rate fluctuates from location to location. Our rooms run normally 119-139-199 a night and with the medical rate its normally 59-69. So its a great discount but you should call the closest hospital and ask them do they have any partnerships with any hotels.
I hope that helps.

The rooms are not set aside for AARP or AAA. That's just the special rate for the room. You can get the exact same room at a slightly higher rate. Unless something is terribly broken at travelocity, you'll also see listings for those rooms at regular rates, or travelocity discount rates (sometimes).
