Should the inner ring suburbs consolidate with Dallas?

It seems to work in Houston. Irving, Garland, Mesquite, Carrollton, Farmers Branch, Richardson, Addison, Plano, Grand Prairie, Duncanville and Arlington should all be a part of Dallas.

I do not think they should. They shouldn't because each of those towns and communities have their own individual identities and would be ruined if they were then called 'Dallas'. So, no. These communites need to stay where they are. God Bless!*

No way! Dallas has the worst government in the region. Cities like Irving, GP, Garland, Arlington each have 100,000 to 300,000 and are large enough to be effective cities with individual governments. We need to proceed with regional solutions where Dallas is only the largest of about 100 cities. As for Houston the consolidation you are talking about took place half a centry ago.

I agree. They should do it cause Dallas Cowboys don't even play in Dallas now.

I live in Plano, and I don't WANT to be part of Dallas proper. That's why I live in Plano. I don't care what works for Houston. That's their thing, not mine. I don't want to be a part of Dallas government and I don't want to be part of DISD. They have too many "issues". The city council and the school board are always at each other for some stupid reason or another. Plano isn't even in Dallas County, we are in Collin County. And that's just FINE by me.

What makes you think it works for Houston? Metro Houston is a logistical and planning zone nightmare. The absolute only value Houston gets is it boosts the city population, which I believe they are now ranked 4th in the nation.

Ugh, no. The Metroplex is interdependent enough without one of the municipalities getting an undue weight in the region.
